The trial under Justice Ringim was stalled at a Federal High Court Ikoyi today, as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman and other defendants failed to show appearance either in their personal capacity or through their counsels.

Recall that a Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed today, Monday, July 5, for hearing of the suit filed by maritime stakeholder, Elder Asu Beks, against the Board of the NPA and its Executive Directors.
Elder Beks and two other plaintiffs:Tompra Abarowei and Miebi Senge on Thursday, March 25, 2021 filed the suit challenging the powers of President Muhammadu Buhari as 1st defendant in the suit, to unlawfully constitute the board of the NPA, as well as appointment of its Executive Directors without recourse to the statutory provisions of the NPA Act.

Elder Beks, Chief Executive Officer of Maritime Media Limited, Publishers of Shipping World magazine, also joined the embattled NPA MD, Hadiza Usman in the suit, saying that President Buhari prematurely reappointed her six clear months before her tenure expires.
